Data+ Makes a Big Impact on Students

Since 2015, Ed Balleisen has led the university’s efforts to advance interdisciplinarity, partnering with academic leaders across campus. We asked him to reflect on what makes Duke’s interdisciplinary approach distinctive.

Deadline: February 28, 2026 (priority); rolling until filled. Data+ 2026 will run from May 18 through July 24. Undergraduate and master’s students interested in exploring new data-driven approaches to interdisciplinary challenges are welcome to apply.

Deadline: January 20, 2026. The overarching goal is to bring together groups of researchers from across campus to exchange ideas and advance a topic of current and timely interest.
