The Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity is a leading interdisciplinary hub dedicated to the scientific study of the causes and consequences of inequality and the development of research-informed solutions. Through rigorous research, transformative education and public engagement, the Cook Center produces scholarship that strengthens the evidence base for addressing inequality and improving societal conditions.

Duke Center for Community-Engaged Scholarship

The Duke Center for Community-Engaged Scholarship is an interdisciplinary hub facilitating collaborative scholarship between community partners and Duke faculty, staff and students, to address pressing societal challenges. The center connects community organizations with students and researchers to explore difficult questions, analyze data and enhance their impactful work. A joint effort of Duke Community Affairs and the Office of Interdisciplinary Programs, the center supports the university’s ongoing commitment to partner with purpose, a cornerstone of Duke’s vision for its second century.

Duke Center for Computational Thinking

The Duke Center for Computational Thinking (CCT) enables computational education at Duke to ensure that every student, regardless of field of study, is prepared for the digital 21st century. Through partnerships with faculty, programs and departments spanning a wide range of disciplines including data science, cybersecurity, policy and ethics, CCT brings computational learning experiences and opportunities to the Duke community and beyond.

Duke Lemur Center 

Located on the campus of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, the Duke Lemur Center (DLC) is a world leader in the study, care and protection of lemurs — the most endangered group of mammals on Earth. Since 1966, the DLC has cared for over 4,315 primates, welcomed more than 3,400 infants through its conservation breeding program, played a leading role in conserving lemurs and their natural habitat in Madagascar, produced more than 1,600 peer-reviewed scientific publications, educated hundreds of thousands of people through in-person and virtual programs, and shared its lemur care expertise with zoos and conservation organizations around the world.

Triangle Center for Evolutionary Medicine

The Triangle Center for Evolutionary Medicine (TriCEM) is a nonprofit institute exploring the intersection of evolutionary science and medicine. The center is jointly operated by Duke University, North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina Central University, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. TriCEM is an incubator that promotes innovative developments in the theory and practice of evolutionary medicine by fostering cross-disciplinary collaborations among Triangle-based scholars, physicians, veterinarians, public health workers and more.
