Interdisciplinary studies has been a strategic focus at Duke University for more than twenty years. In the most recent strategic plan (2006), interdisciplinarity, or "inquiry across disciplines" was reaffirmed as an enduring theme of the university. This section contains key documents in the development of the culture of interdisciplinary engagement. "Interdisciplinary Studies at Duke: Context, Commitment, and Challenges" traces Duke’s vision for interdisciplinary studies through three strategic plans, while looking to the future and the next level of interdisciplinary endeavors. "Timeline: 20 Years of Interdisciplinary Studies at Duke" maps out significant events since 1988 in the development of interdisciplinary studies at Duke.
